Today I am starting from my new blog at http://twaberry.blogspot.com/ and transferring to http://me-actor-ug.livejournal.com/ . It shouldn't effect the layout or anything but I'm doing it and thought to myself "you're reading my blog, you might care". It also gives me a way to point at the new shiny blog.

I need to recap the weekend and in typical me fashion I will go on at length, enjoy.

Friday- I woke up at 9:30 and drug myself around rediscovering the wonders of breakfast and trying to decide whether this had been worth it. Once I managed to get myself out of the house I drove down to Salvation army. There were only two tankard and trencher sets left. I nabbed them but I wish there had been more. Work was work-y. I didn't really have any impetus to do anything. I read over my beginnings of stories in hopes of sparking some inspiration but with no luck. I ended up mostly just sitting around staring into space, which, it seems, I am paid to do.

After work I cooked up a breast of chicken in mustard which I simply rubbed on. With some lemon juice and lemon pepper it made a lovely flavour. I was forced to eat it as a sandwich for convenience though. I packed up and The car departed at 7:35 or so. The standard campsite hanging out was done. The Faire site was on a water usage advisory this weekend. As a result the water wasn't turned on when I went to take a shower. More accurately I should say the hot water wasn't turned on. I turned in upon returning.

Saturday- The day started at about 7:30 it looked to be a good day weather wise though I was skeptical considering what I had experienced the week previous. It would prove to be just as nice as everyone had predicted.

A few things need to be defined as preface to the weekend.
-my family, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa and Weston, came to town to visit the faire.
-Eva came to visit for her birthday
-Emma took a patron day and as such will take less part in Saturday's post than pleases me.
-I had G.P. duty for the first time.

I think that will do it. Those things being said I started the day. I hit the will call office to set up tickets for everyone who came to visit me. I paid for a ticket for Eva and set up all my comp tickets for my family. Just as I stepped bak out of that gate Kate, the Costume designer, walked by with a stack of comp tickets. Upon seeing me she pulled three off the stack and said "thank you for helping with the household costume build" it took me about two seconds to turn around and get my money back and insert the new free ticket in its place.

Opening was interesting as I was watching for familiar faces as well as greeting the masses with my name and ocupation. As an homage to my yeoman days I really threw myself into the morning. I walked more and said more and did more new stuff in that morning than I ever have before.
Highlights-
-The wonder of a captive audience. I noticed a bunch of people eating at the new benches near KK. There wasn't anything going on and they looked pretty bored so I jogged up, caught my breath and thanked them all for waiting. I then did my best impression of William Shatner at a Star Trek convention. "Yes Hello, thank you for coming to see me" "Yes, I am Captain Frobisher" I think I counted 8 landmasses named in the space of five minutes and two new languages discovered. one of which had only two words, "yo" and "ho" which I was assisted in by Laura, the town crier.
-Discovered how beautiful the "Midsummer Knight's Dream" shop is inside. They have a little courtyard and everything.
- Wooed a lot. not the least of which was a small band of young women led by Emma. I stopped the shouting I was doing and made for them. Landmasses were named, wooing was done and I got to use the line I had prepared for the occasion, "Your beauty is like the sun, when I se it I am blinded to all other women. " what I could not have planned was the actual sun being iun my eyes at the time. Emma took off her hat to block it from my face and made a great joke to the effect of "no that's just the sun in your eyes" and there was much rejoicing.
-hung out with street people backstage, something I've been missing. My guilde is fun and has lots of perks but even with our hugeness we cannot compete with the dynamic people of the criers, street or fantasticals.

I was late to parade muster because I was having so much fun but I got down in time to have jumped in line. I had thought I needed my GP sash though so I ran frantically back into the priory to find one. everyone was supremely unhelpful with finding them until finally someone told me not to worry about it. I walked up the back way and met up with the parade ending. It was then that I was informed that I needn't have worried because we don't actually start GPing until after feast. I wish someone had mentioned that before.

It was good to hang out with mary again and a trip to see tartanic was nice. We stayed for most of the show and though I didn't pay a lot of attention due to trying to keep track of Dad and Weston who dropped by at that point and introducing Liz to Dad. I also was in the middle of watering the other GPs since I was third. Liz was nice enough to give me the last of her lemonade which was passed between the GPs.

I had been slated to tell my bell story at banquet but we hadn;t gotten to it. when we got to late glade though Aaron needed it to finish out the time. I got to tell my story about tricking an inuit into coming close by throwing bells into the water and grabbing him, kayak and all, to take home to England. The punchline was bipart. It was suppose to go "and the best part, your majesty, is that he had some bells with him so here they are, the first treasures of the new world" insert queen comment about, weren't those your bells. response "Oh, yes... The best part, your majesty, is I got my bells back."

After closing I hung about for a while and then went to see the family at the Grand Geneva Resort. Mom made some adjustments to my slops. The leg bands had been constricting me and making it impossible to pull the pants all the way up. This had been causing other problems. She also added on my new codpiece which is immense. It was good to see everyone and actually get to talk to them at any length. I stayed in the suite for the night and had Dad wake me up at 6:30 to head off to the site.

Sunday- was Froberrific. I got in at 7:50 and was ready to go for morning prep and dressing. I put on the suit and as I was putting on my boots when the inseam of my slops tore apart fully from band to crotch. this was, needless to say, problematic. I therfore did not finish putting on the suit. Instead I opted to go up the the costume shop to address the problem. Kate pointed me at a sewing machine with glod thread on it and told me to go ahead. I, therefore, repaired the problem myself and did it heavily. I got down to stage level and had one of Kate's apprentices help me safety pin my cuffs. I was missing the morning meeting but it needed to be done. midway through my name was called for the Poster child award. I didn't hear but apparently there were calls for the frobie dance and Susan said nice things about me. I missed it but am flattered all the same. I may ask her if I can make it up to everyone and frobe dance next morning meeting. The other thing I missed was the announcement that the T-walk I had instigated was to be that day. Grrr. bloody pants.

I changed up my routine today. I dropped by the Madrigal show and tried to get patrons to stand still for the singing. we managed to get a large group precisely as the set was ending, Grrr.

It meant that I could get an early grab on Liz and Emma though. we didn't maraude much but what we did was fun. My feet weren't tired yet either so I could keep up with Liz's indomitable pace.It was very good to hang with the two of them after our time apart. I also scoped out some perfumery shops. Middle of the day stuff took my time. pardes, feast and the like. at presentation I made a codpeice joke which was followed by another from Sir henry Lee that got Me, Lee, and Raleigh sent to stand near the wall. we, being smart alecks, did so with gusto. we stood there, facing that wall for what felt like half an hour. we stayed through the end of the presentations, through the presntation of the food and the grace after which we said "amen" really loudly to get the queen's attention. It wasn;t funny as any of us had thought it would be. oh well.

I sang my new song for the feast and broke mary a little. I need to print it up on something nice and do it again though because I didn't project enough which meant the words were lost. While joust was happening I snuck Liz out of the glade so she could maraude with Tyrwhitt, her character's soon to be husband. I then ran some arrands. I did some bits and scoped out the flower shop and perfume shops.

After joust Emma and I snuck out of the glade and I hid her behind a tree from Sandra (who playes her superior in household). We then looked in at kamala to be nice then went to the perfumery in queens kitchens to pick out the frobescent. After much deliberation and fun we decided on the one I had liked the last time I'd been there, "Highland Rogue". Emma is beginning to participate in the bits more. Soon she will be doing them on her own. I stepped on her toes again I think.

We came back with time to spare and got into a game of ninepins while waiting for the queen and company. I managed to rip out my other inseam in the process. joy. Grrr.
Late Glade had myself and Lady Chandos doing a translation bit. This game is a classic and we had fun with it. the preface held that I had taught her the inuit language and was now going to talk to the queen in inuit and she would translate. We did some greeting, queen flattery and talked about the many words for snow. If there had been an end to the bit it would have been very good. as it was we ended with "I think that's it" which was lame but neccessary.

I then went up for the early post at evening sing. Everything went well and I was happy to discover that for the second day in a row I was not exhausted at the final parade. Huzzah!

Glade packup went well and after I got myself packed Alexis and I joined the crew at culvers. I discoverd the joy of their Reuben sanwiches and got to hang out with people in an out of character and awesome capacity.

Today- I went to work and stared off into space for four hours. I managed to get NPR on the crappy radio which made me happy. I came home and waited around for about an hour to get in because I had, once again, left my keys in my room. that makes four mondays in a row now. I made some Ramen then went to join Nachiket for "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" which is an awesome movie. I liked it a lot and highly recomend it. If you liked "The Whole Nine Yards", "Oceans Eleven" or "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" you will likely enjoy this.

-There you have it, now have it-

Today's Gem of the internet- An actual website, that's madness. There is a lot of content on todays site and it's awesome, so enjoy.

A quick one, comparatively. I'm planning to get up early tomorrow so I can hit Salvation Army before work. They had some great tankard and trencher sets that I Can sell at faire for a profit. I hope they are still there. Therefore I'm not too keen on putting off sleep to write an extended post about what is in fact a pretty empty day. I spent 8 hours at work. I was tired for some reason and really had no impetus to do anything. I spent a lot of time deciding which chair I liked better and standing outside to escape the muggy air inside. No writing got done today. However, after about a week of pecking at it in tiny chunks to savor its goodness I ran out of Neil Gaiman today. And just in time for another long shift tomorrow. I'm grabbing something off my shelf. Maybe I'll give Beowulf another read.
After work I came home just long enough to jot an e-mail and made a peanut butter sandwich before running off to see "Biloxi Blues" at the New Court Theatre. I went, not only because my friend Jim is in it but because back before time was time and before I became what I am now, when I wanted to be a verinarian I saw this play at the Zanesville Community Theatre. Originally I had not been thrilled with the prospect of going to that first play. By the end of it though I knew I wanted to do the same thing and was in an auditon for "Hagar the Horrible" (which would become my first real production) within the week. It was a nice production. I think it could have been edgier and less punchy. some of the places that could have been touching, frightening or more real were instead played for laughs.
Oh well. I was also reminded that I need to find a play for next semester. Must... Read... Scripts...

After the show I hit Cubs for a toothbrush, some ginger ale and a fountain pen. No luck on the fountain pen, but I did grab a chisel tip marker, that should be passable right?I walked home and started some laundry/ bread/ blackadder II/ transcription of text for a bit this weekend.

new bits planned so far:
-song for the queen, very self aggrandising
-report on the voyage to Meta Incognita w/ props.new presentation jokes

Stuff to do this weekend:
-Ask Tom Charney about reviving T-walk in his absence
-do some mad wooing of a red haired girl in pirate garb whom I've never met... ever.
-Guard the queen on Saturday. (If I can get away with it I think I will mistake some people for marauding spaniards)
-pick out the official scent of Captain Frobisher so that it ceases to be eau d' gymsocks

Now, bed.

-Augh, damn my eyes! I forgot to wash my muckinger in the machine.-

Another episode of "Ansel Was Wrong"

After my addendum to yesterday I'm feeling very wrong right now. Luckily it's good that I was wrong on this one.

The first order of business I f I told anyone that I had gotten as close to a promotion as possible when Cecil randomly gave me hours because I'm doing a good job. Well it turns out a promotion is possible. Kim, the Athletic Director approached me today and told me that there is a new jb being created as building manager. There would be a pay increase and an office and everything. Would I be interested? It would mean either leavig or spending far less time in the costume shop. I guess in a way that could be good. I can do homework and get paid ina this managerial job wheras costume shop requires me to wake up early on Spring day and symposium day as well as making me actually do stuff. I like that it's giving me theatre experience though. I will need to think about this.

Today's Post. Today was really something. I don't know what but it was something. There has been a team of workmen systematically destroying the area around my workplace for a while now. Today I came in to work to find that the trees with their pretty birds were gone, crap. I only had one person give me a hard time and I'm not sure why. I had gotten a call for the conference worker attached to the camp and went into the gym to tell him to come get the phone. A bunch of the noon ball players (the ones who keep giving me a hard time) were there in the gym watching the camp people play. A few things could have happened here.
1- I could have said "What the hell are you guys doing in here? five of you didn't come in through the proper door which is against the rules. I'm tired of you a** holes using this place like a F#%$ing community center. I'm calling security and having you kicked off campus, thank you."
2- I could have said "please leave the gym, no one is allowed in here while these MINORS are playing basketball in the camp they paid to attend."
What did happen was I walked in and couldn't see to where Dylan was standing through the group of large guys. What I did say, despite the fact that they had subverted the system and made me not do my one job, was "hey guys, what are you doing?" in what I thought to be a friendly and curious tone. This was responded to with harsh and confrontational retorts many of which accused me of "trippin". "Why you gotta' be up on us all the time?" one of them queried. I gave a confused look and said, I just came in to tell Dylan that there's a phone call for him. This was followed by the order "you tell Dylan then". I let it go and simply went ahead and did what I had come in to do. I was nice today, if they give me any more trouble though they can forget about noon ball (oh and tomorrow the gym doors to the outside will be closed. They will cook and if they ask, I will tell them why, I don't have much power but the gym also doesn't have AC). All of the other players follow the rules and treat me nicely, I don't know what the issue is with these few. They all left promptly after our meeting without any coaxing from me, though they didn't look happy about it.

Around that there were many good visitors. I exchanged many jokes about the dwindling list of ways to get to the sports center at all and everyone was generally really nice. I started on a rewrite of something that got started in the park last night. On my way home from Cub I was hit with a bolt of inspiration in the form of an image and had to record it in prose. I therfore stopped in the sketchy park and wrote it on the pad of paper that I have taken to carrying with me all the time. Today I took it a little further and gave it some shape. It's not what it started out as but the product should be pretty good. If it is I'll be sure to put it up.
About halfway through my 6 hour day I was informed that the entrance doors were to be closed off for construction. I was not given further instructions. I decided that it would be silly to shout at everyone walking in the side door to make them stop by the desk on their way in. So I imporvised. I grabbed the lobby table and chair and set up a new desk next to the side doors which had been designated the new way in. I then began a quest for a better table. Gabi, who works in the office went looking around for me so I could stay at my makeshift post. She came back with nothing. It was then that she pointed to the table in the gym and said, what about that one. It was perfect so I went over to the camp coach and asked if he needed the table. He said no, so I snagged it and set up a new, improved impov desk. I grabbed the radio from the office and the sign in stuff and set them up to greet people at our new entrance. I also brought out the spiffy chair and let it down from its perpetual extention to rest at normal person height for the first time in it's existence. I had also brought my fan from my room since the normal area is really hot. I set that up under the desk and was generally very comfy. It turned out to be a very good idea indeed to have done all of those things. And later on, Kim came to tell me what a good job I'm doing and offer me that proposed position. W00t!
After work I checked e-mail and made some Chili flavor ramen with peas and chicken. A very satisfying and tasty meal. This was followed by the first meeting of the Ruhi study circle I joined that Leslie is running. It was a great meeting and I feel I got to say a lot of things that needed saying. It was good to share with other Baha'is what I was feeling about my current state of faith/ emotional arrangement.
On the way home I hit Wal Mart for rearview mirror epoxy. I walked out with a jar of penut butter, epoxy, oil and a big container of gatoraide mix for faire. (Emma or Eric, if I forget to donate it, smack me and remind me.)I came home and stopped by the coctail party at the Spanish house. It wasn't my scene but I got to say "hi" to Adan. I also ran into Nachiket on my way back to the Russian house. He told me that Byron had posted the new episode of Technical difficulties. and sice I haven't really done anything else since that brings me to...

-Whew, am I glad I missed that bell run!-

Today's Gem O' The Internet -
Episode 2 of technical difficulties. The Frogger World Cup and the News Battle were my contributions. To both my mother and Andy Pierre's, I'm sorry about that segment. As for the Frogger piece, 10 fakie pointless points to anyone who correctly identifies the subtle joke of my suit (Yes, pointless points, now with 100% less point).

Prepare yourself for another finely crafted piece of prose,

My day.Today I was working in the weight room so I read a lot of Smoke and mirrors before I got the itch to write, Gaiman does that to me. I got a whole vignette done and the beginnings of something. Must work on finishing what I've started. After work I wnet for a walk to the library and Cub. I ran into Steve Wright and Greg Miliron, we had a lovely chat. I returned Blackadder 1 and picked up blackadder 2. At Cub I replenished my supply of ramen and condiments I also bought a can of generic kippers as an impulse.

Upon returning home I putzed around on the computer and made some ramen before I started watching Blackadder. I watched the whole tape and loved it. Somehow I had managed not to see any of the first three episodes of the second season. Including the Walter- my-what-a-big-ship-I've-got-Raliegh episode. Until tonight I had no idea it was a blackadder reference when we called Joseph that. I was going to writ my update and got to bed early when Andy posted that he had watched the venture brothers new season on YouTube. I, of course availed myself of it. several hours here I am, entertained and amused but still required to wake up at 11:00 tomorrow. Ergo, no particularly long post today.

Two things from the weekend which slipped my mind. My supernaturally hardcore indestructable bat-phone met it's match when it was run over an unspecified number of times on a gravel road. It fell out of the car dor when I got out to get my ID at faire. as a result every rennie coming in that night and likely until morning when the black phone became visible, ran it over with vehicles of various sizes. It still turns on and tries to work but something inside is inhibiting it from having a reliable connection with its mother ship or what ever it is to which they connect.

Also, in the heat of the weekend my rearview mirror fell off. I need to buy some epoxy to put it on. considering the recent rash of car trouble I consider this to be both warranted under the conditions and relatively speaking not such a big hassle. I can drive without it and as far as I know the epoxy is cheap so I will be getting some when I go to the optometrist tomorrow (provided I don't decide to cancel/ move to a different optometrist who will do the exam for free).

-My, aren't you a doddle headed ponce?-

Today's Gem of the internet, because Andy forced it on me, the Venture Brothers episodes 1,2 and 3 of season two. Enjoy.

I know there has been heady anticipation for my post. So here it is,

News From Around the Frobe

Friday- I had the day off and took full advantage of it. I did laundry so that Capt. Frobisher would smell slightly less awful. I could smell myself on the first day last week, which is a bad sign. I think I'm going to need to do more than wash things. Hello perfume. I also baked a loaf of Ginger Ale bread with Canada Dry. It was perfect. It rose nicely and formed well. The bread was soft and moist with a good colour and texture. I'm glad. I also went to Helpful Hannah's to make a special purchase of a special favour. I had my eye on it before but had thoght it too big. When I lost the last one I took it as a message from fate telling me to go big. As a final stop on the spend some money tour I went to the shoe store where my friend Adan works and bought some insoles. This meant that for the entire errand walk I was wearing the Frobishing boots. This was made all the better by the fact that for the forst 3/4 of the walk I had bad insoles and the entire population of Beloit gawking. Adan's co-worker liked the boots though. He caled them "sweet". We left for Faire early to see the Dreanought. Frankly, I was less than impressed. It was worth my free but I wouldn't pay more than a dollar or two to visit it, now. I am told it is in a state of improvement and we may expect better and better things from it in future. I n reality it is two rooms (Forecastle and Rearcastle). these rooms are decorated with some displays of varying quality or necessity and some little boxes that smell like things. I've seen better but, again, they are working on it. What bothered me was the librties they've taken with the ship. I fully appreciate the conditions they are working with and the limitations they engender but can we please at least pretend that there is a hold? Could we suggest that the ship could move? Could we put ropes in appropriate places? That is all my ranting. Please do marvel at the Dreadnpought though. It's quite nice looking from the outside (though parked strangely).

Saturday- I woke up a little later than I had wanted which butted my shower right up with call. I made it back to the galde in time though. I also left all of my shower crap behind in the glade. I've got to stop forgetting stuff out there when I go to change. It made it's way backstage though so all was well. Opening was fun. I got off to a good start and had a good walkabout befor the mud show. I then did my shctick in the vicinity of the mud show (though at a courteous distance) waiting for it to end so I could watch Emma's Madrigal choir. I missed them somehow and was forced to move on with my day as I had run out of shady places on the Fairengetti where I could walk without people going "Oh, it's you again. Yes, we've heard your jokes". The streets were welcoming though sparse. The people were happy and responsive despite the heat. And since so many of them were sitting down I had some captive audiences. (I'm beginning to learn how to work them too.) My strenght still remains to be my "one man parade" bit. I walk about an decry my name. I tell people how famous and important I am and if they show interst I stop and have a chat, name a landmass, insult their percieved country of origin/ grasp of the English language, whatever. I had a large group of students at one point who were engaged in the bit but absolutely silent (damn T.V.) I managed to get one of them to talk to me by suggesting that they were all foreign and speaking slowly. I made her translate to her friends how important I am. Slowly at intervals two more chimed in which left only six silent. As I was wrapping the bit and sending them on their way one of the silent ones tried to speak to me in another language. For all I know it was made up but who cares. Neither I nor Frobisher had any idea what language she was even going for so I said goodbye very painfully slowly to her in particular.Parade and mid day stuff went well though while I was getting some water and shooting the breeze backstage we had our first serious heat related incident. One of our guys was pretty bad off. He lost conciousness and was incolherant for a little while we got him out of his most restricting clothes and cooled him off gently while waiting for medical to arrive. Everyone did the right thing and I did't have to take over too much. I made some suggestions and helped with carrying him to the cart to be whisked away to a medical facility. HE came back later in the day in plain clothes to give heat advice from the doctors and tell us he was okay.I Went with Mary-Beth to "A Head of Her Tyme" to pick up her hat and hit "Hearthstone Arts" on the way back to the glade where Frobisher sat in on a Privy Council meeting he had been called to and didn't pay attention. The leaves, patrons anything but the privy council caught his vapid attention. When the time came I came forward to answer some charges ("What did I do this time?") They asked if I had gotten ahold of a silver bowl. I said yes, I had it with me and did they know what it was because I couldn't fence it. Turns out it was the coronation gift from the queen to the Duc D'Allanson (sp?) The privy council was unhappy with me but I was assured it would be alright, thoguh they decided that they needed to look to making their letters of marque more specific. I was to go before the queen later in the day to answer for my offense. I had some walkabout time which did not involve Emma or Liz which makes me sad. But raliegh, Hawkins and I did some sailoring near the ship. We don't work terribly well as a unit. I've seen Joe (Raleigh)'s bit before and it works really well, mostly wooing. And my bit (one man parade) works much better alone, though I'm finding having someone to put me in my place is great. I don't know what Stacy (Hawkins) normally does but he seems to be kinda lame in our threesome (though he has some great one liners and opening stuff it mostly devolves into the make fun of Frobisher hour. Which is great, just hard to keep going. When I got back though, There was a rose waiting for me. I am touched. It is my first and I hold it to be a very special honour to have recieved it. The way I see it the giving of flowers is a special tradition. It of course spans history. It is an "I was thinking of you, especially". Roses are classic of course. I like knowing people's favourite flowers like Morning Glory's and White Carnations. Now back to our Frobisher court trial already in progress. There were a few funny bits that had been planned to lighten the bit but they failed. Matt (Randall Roarback, town Crier) had to retrieve his bell from me, which had been handed to me just before going on. I also tried to start out with some funny. She gave me an opportunity to explain myself and I allowed all of the excuses I have ever used spill out as fast as I could and in the ensuing uncomfortable moments smiled hugely as if to say "please don't hurt me, look how nice I am".When the time came for it The Queen was PISSED. She railed on Frobisher for preying on English shipping, making an international scene and basically doing what he does. She then sent him off to the tower to die a horrible death. Apparently after I had been dragged off Burgley convinced her to go easy on the Captain. Frobisher had to pay a 20% restitution and give back the bowl. He also spent a night thinking he was done for. I went to final sing and then dance and the day was done.

Sunday- Tired and hot I think sums up the day. I was, the audience was, the rest of the cast was. It was pretty cruddy going all through. I did walkabout all morning and had no one on one interactions, which makes me sad. The bast bit of the day was when I walked past the Midsummer stage and noticed some people sitting on the benches there. I turned to walk in front of them then ran all the way back to where I had started and sauntered by again. The thrid time I did it I stopped in the middle of the open patch of grass and started with "Why Yes, I am Captain Sir Martin Frobisher, Thank you for noticing." (my catchphrase so far). I didn;t do any glade bits per se but I did have a nice time in presentation. I bribed Andrew (Antony Wells, Darby's servant) with a pie to read a heroic poem about Frobisher while I was being presented. I also got to implicate The Queen in some piracy when the spanish were presented demanding to know where their trunks were. She asked me to which I replied "Your majesty, do you recall that largish brooch I gave you...". In the afternoon the trio went for a walk. We hit some stands and went to see the 4:30 scenario with Queen and Raleigh and everything. That is when Raliegh left his cup with me. He did not come back for it as he said he would and we did not want to miss him so we stayed and watched "Barely Balanced" whose catchphrase is something like "The most complicated way to do the unneccessary". There was a lot of unneccessary jumping and superfluous fire. They lived up to their slogan. From there it was downhill. I actually sat around during late glade and didn't really dfo anything. I was also less than enthused at final sing. I kept up the happy face but inside it was gone. Parade though opened it right back up. i walked out with the spanish maid of honor and made jokes and conversation all the way out. I was in close proximity to the Infanta which made it even better. much slinging of spanish jokes ensued. Alyssa actually thanked me when we finished, it was very cute. At he final farewell outside the gates there were two people standing behind us and I sang parting glass to them if a Frobishing manner, It was an excellent end to the day. The walk back to the glade was marked by happy conversation too. There is a pattern beginning to form in the companionship I have on that walk. We packed everything up and after a prolonged wait/ sorting time Alexis and I made it to Culver's for dinner with about a third of the Guilde and sundry others. It turns out French Fries with Ranch dressing are actually not bad. I have shied away from them for a long time now, but the opportunity was too good. Hugging and long goodbyes followed and then we crept home tired and worn. The roads were friendly and the car was nice to me too. I've decided that most of my crap is staying in the car unless absolutely neccessary. I'm tired of carrying it. I do need to polish my boots though.

Today- I went to work at 11. I read some more Neil Gaiman and talked with the conference workers who had to sit around while a basketball camp went on. I think I must have been crabby from the weekend because I had more problems today than usual. Two people accused me of power trips because I was doing my job. I was yelled at for doing my job twice and three people stormed out in a huff and upon returning walked past as quickly as possible and threw their Ids in my general direction. This was followed by my customary "have a fun time" though I've rarely meant it so little. I had to call the offices several times to report changes of attitude and otherwise which needed attending to. I am being recognised for doing my job well though. If there isa a promotion in this job I'm getting it. Cecil heaper 8 hours more work onto my happy plate for later in the week. It means a tight schedule for Friday, but for the money, I'll do it.

I came home to discover I had forgotten my keys in my room. No one was home so I went to the library to call security. while there I hit the video section and grabbed the first thing that caught my attention. "A Man For All Seasons". Upon getting in I made some dinner, checked the internet and started watching the movie. It is a really good film and I reccomend it highly. Of coure I liked Peter O' Toole's "Beckett" and "A Lion in Winter" too. If you didn't like those, you likely won't like this. I also gave Blackadder another go. The second tape works so I watched it. I'll be returning them tomorrow.

-Thus do we see what men are truly made of... ewww!-

Stuff! We have stuff!

Today's word o' the day would be "anticipation" but everyone already knows what that means. I'm anticipating getting paid, going to faire, getting some errands run and taking care of some housekeeping stuff like laundry and baking tasty ginger ale bread. I am also anticipating a free tour of the dreadnought. I'm anticipating it so much I'm going to faire early tomorrow to take advantage of this seafaring opportunity. Arrgh! It's a good job too. There's no way on this earth I'm paying 7.00 to see the hold of that things. There is nothing in there I haven't seen before. Nor could there possibly be enough to warrant the cost. If it comes up I think I'll advise patrons to stand outside and gawk at their parking job, honestly. I'm sure they are lovely people and I love what thier new goo-gaw has done for the faire this season. However, the sooner their "museum" goes under the sooner I can use it as "Captain Frobisher's Ship o' Fun" tm

I have been feeling inordinately creative for a few days now. I've written a few plot beginnings and gotten ideas of where to go with them but today a story flowed out of me like... well I won't say what. Think of something flowing out of me, it's probably like that. I will post the beginning of it at the end of today's post. So for those of you who actually read, congrats you can waste 45 minutes reading something that doesn't yet have a proper ending. But for everyone who saw Pirates of the Carribean 2, I'm sure you are used to it (and that was two and a half hours).

After work I went to feast and had a grand time. we were a small but exciting group and we played a fun game I learned at ACTF. I'd explain it but most of you wouldn't have any reason to care. Leave a comment if you want to know.

I got to give a little superfluous pet care advice.
Me: Your cat is probably stressed and that's why it licks its back legs so much the fur is gone.
The Widders: We know, it's probably because there are a lot of other cats in the neighborhood fighting him all the time.

I also got to give some equally insubstantial sewing advice.
Me: you need to get five inches of give out of a dress. Yeah that's really hard. You can put in a side panel but you need to be really careful matching the fabric.Mel: Yeah, I know. I need the fabric and someone to do it.

When I came home I putzed around for a little bit (read: a long time) and typed up the first piece of today's opus. At around midnight it occured to me that my direct deposit had probably been put in. I dropped by the mail center and found it to be true. I then went to cub foods to celebrate with some ice cream. Huzzah gettin' paid! I also picked up Ginger ale for my bread. I need to stop drinking my baking supplies (like I am right now.) It's Canada Dry and I don't remember if that is the one that turned out well or badly last year. It was either Canada Dry or Schwepps that I liked and the other one turned out really blandly. I don't remember which one it is though. We'll see. The honey I drizzle over it should fix just about anything.

-The devil went down to Georgia? No wonder it's so freaking hot there!-

Today's Gem of the internet- In an effort to get away from gems that I feel a need to defend with a diatribe about my feelings on a subject that no one comments on anyway here is today's Gem. It is a homagockery (I believe is the way he puts it) to the Ask a Ninja videos. I didn't like the ask a ninja. I find it irritating. I did like this though, a lot. Check out all nine installments (0-8) http://www.axapirate.com

1. I welcome and encourage feedback as this is fresh out of my brain
2. keep in mind ther eis an unrevealed element here. 5 fakie points to anyone who can guess it.
3. I almost named a character Boise, as in Iowa. Go me!

-Today's Story-
The pool of sunlight in the castle’s entrance was slowly receding as the great fiery orb reclaimed its belongings before going to wherever it went to sleep. Mother said the sun’s true name is Ti’am and it is really the spirit of the first person, who lived during the dark times before Hope. She always told me that he had sacrificed himself for the good of the people after making two of our kind to rule the Earth in his stead.
According to the legend he always watched and as long as the sun rises every day we know he is pleased with what we are doing. Ever since, we have known Hope. What mother didn’t tell me, for a long time, is the power that Ti’am left us. I knew we were to rule the Earth for him. This is the story of what that means.

--

As the sun departed mother called me back inside for bed. My twin sister Cal’ia was running toward me in the hall.“Come on!” she begged “Mother has a special story for us tonight.” We both excitedly hurried to our bedroom for our bed-time story. Mother and my younger brother Bo’ize were already there. Bo’ize looking annoyed that I had held up story time. Mother smiled at me and inclined her head toward my bed where I went to sit.
“Tonight, my children, I have an extra special story for you.”
“Is it about Hope bringing us something fantastic?” Cal’ia asked loudly.
“Is it about Ti’am making something?” Bo’ize cried hopefully. He did love stories of Ti’am.
“No.” Mother chided. “Tonight’s story is about a different great person; someone you know.”
“Is it about Father?” I asked expecting he had done something great for Hope again.
“No Cal’at.” She said through a wide smile. “It is about you.”
“Me!” I said in disbelief.
“Yes, you. It is a story older than grandfather and even his grandfather, but it is about you.” We were speechless. Mother had told us stories about Hope bringing us mighty gifts from the place where Ti’am sleeps. She had told us of the dark times when Ti’am fought with the other stars to rule the Earth. She had even told us of father flying with Hope to a place far away where people are long like serpents and speak a different language. She had never told stories about someone boring who played with his siblings and only did great things in his dreams.
I could feel my heartbeat in my hands as I clutched my bed in anticipation.
“A long time ago, in the dark times,”
“Cal’at wasn’t around in the dark times. We were born at the same time and I wasn’t there.” Cal’ia cried indignantly.
“I wasn’t around then either, Cal’ia.” Mother said softly. “That is when the story starts. Before Hope or the sun when Ti’am was fighting for the world, for us, he fought a mighty enemy. It was the most clever of all his foes and though Ti’am is mighty it long evaded him and stole from his home and stabbed at him from behind. In his wisdom, Ti’am set a trap for this enemy and long after all of the other stars had admitted defeat and left their children behind on Earth the foe fell into Ti’am’s trap.
“Ti’am had put some of his greatest treasure in a special room in his home. He had shown it to some of the star children and told them of the treasure’s specialness and how he had won each piece. He also told them that he prized these above all else on Earth.
“Some of them told the foe about the treasures and the room where Ti’am kept them. The foe knew that if it stole these from Ti’am he would be angered and the foe thought that would be very entertaining. The foe may also have thought that some of the treasures would help it defeat Ti’am.
“When the foe went into the room and touched the treasures it found that Ti’am had used the gift of a star on them. The foe was bound to the stone of the room and for every item it touched the bond grew stronger. When the foe tried to leave, arms full of treasure, it could not. The invisible bonds held it there, ready for Ti’am to find.
“After a long time Ti’am came to the treasure room and found the foe there. Exhausted from struggling the foe had put back all it had stolen but had not been released. Ti’am saw the foe, tired and bound. He asked if it would yield to him.'Never.' it said and because stars cannot die Ti’am left the foe bound to the room. Not before he used another star gift though. He touched the gift to the foe and it began to scream. Mighty burning venom afflicted the foe and Ti’am told it the venom was to represent its trechery and misdeeds.
“Ti’am again waited a long time. He admired the world the star children were peacefully creating. After a long time Ti’am went back to the room and asked the foe if it would yield. Though the foe struggled and cried out for pain it would say only one thing, 'never'. Ti’am took up another star gift and told the foe that the gift represented its stubbornness. Ti’am touched it to the foe who was bourne to the ground. No longer free of the shackles of the ground the foe discovered weight. Ti’am left it crying in pain and writing in the filth of a ground it had never before touched.
“The star children began to fight amongst themselves. Never over anything of worth or in any lasting way but they squabbled nonetheless. Ti’am went among them and told them that that they should not quarrel. Ti’am told them that if they would stop they would be blessed and given gifts.
“As you know Ti’am gave different gift to the children of each star and they stopped fighting. They would kill to eat, as is only proper, but they no longer fought over the treasures of the Earth. They also stopped caring what others thought of them for they had no need. They had been bestowed each with a distinct gift. As long as they ate and lived they needed no concern for the thoughts of others. That was one of Ti’am’s greatest gifts and the only one he bestowed to them all.
“When the star children had stopped figting Ti’am returned to the room where the foe lay in agony.‘Please’ said the foe, defeated, ‘please release me from these torments. I will serve you forever if you will only stop the pain and weight.’
‘You will serve me for all eternity if I remove these gifts now?’ Ti’am asked.
‘Yes.’ said the foe.
‘Tell me your name.’ said Ti’am.
‘Hu’man.’ it said, wretched and writhing.
‘Then your children shall be the children of Hu’man but you shall, from the day you create them, live in Hope. Hope that I will someday remove the last of these gifts, this binding.’ At that word Ti’am lifted from Hu’man the gift of venom and the gift of weight, which did not belong to it and gave them to children who could use them and would not be afflicted by them.
“Ti’am changed the binding which held Hu’man so that it was bound to the will of Ti’am. Ti’am allowed Hu’man to create its children and it made many with different skills and bodies. All of them bound to Ti’am through Hu’man.
“To keep the children of Hu’man from following in Hu’man’s earlier path Ti’am bound them to one service. Whenever one of the kings of the Earth comes of age they will know to send one of their number to be consumed by the child of Ti’am. Hu’man agreed to this service and its fairness.
“That is how we come to you Cal’at. For your father is king of the Earth as was grandfather and all the males of our line. Tomorrow Cal’at, you come of age and we shall hold the ceremony which has marked that occasion since the dark times.
“Now, go to sleep children. Tomorrow Cal’at is to become Ti’am's favourite of all the children of the Earth.”

Due to the regrettable fact that I am an attention whore I have decided to move my blogging to a greater forum than LiveJournal could offer. Here you will find my take on life, attempts at recording it and in case you don't care about me I like to throw in a few nifty features. The Word O' The Day, Gems of the Internet, and a new fun one liner everyday. Enjoy!
